2D algebra tiles are most commonly used to visualize multiplying two linear polynomials in one variable. The tiles are meant to illustrate the area model of multiplication. This Demonstration visualizes the multiplication of three linear polynomials using a volume or 3D model. It also overcomes the fixed limitation of algebra tiles, that is, when using a physical manipulative, the length (or value) of is fixed relative to the size of a unit. In this 3D model you can vary the size of relative to the unit to illustrate that the model works regardless of the size of .
